Podiatry & Chiropody

Newcastle and Gateshead Podiatry & Chiropody Specialists

Our feet are extremely important to us, carrying us on average a mammoth 100,000 miles in a lifetime. So it’s hardly surprising that when we neglect our feet, or when something is not quite right with the alignment or position of our feet, persistent or recurrent problems can occur - problems that deteriorate quickly if not treated.

Our chiropodists / podiatrists deal with many different problems that can occur with our feet such as:

  • Nails: Nails can often be difficult for people to cut, they may become thickened, brittle fungal or sometimes nails can become ingrown. These are just some of the things that chiropody can deal with.

  • Callus/hard skin: Callus, often known as hard skin, can build up on the feet and become painful, uncomfortable or unsightly. Chiropody can reduce the callus build up on the feet.

  • Corns: Corns tend to develop in pressure areas, however they can develop elsewhere. They can be very painful or uncomfortable; patients often describe them as the feeling of having a pebble in their shoe. There are many different types of corns that can develop on the feet. They tend to develop on the pressure or friction points, however they can often be found in between and also on the toes. Our chiropodist can reduce the corn making it less painful or even stop it from returning.

  • Veruccas: Veruccas are a virus that can often be found on the feet. They tend to be caught at places such as swimming pools, changing rooms, etc. A verucca can be small or large in size. They look like a wart with small black dots inside of them. Although there is no proven cure for veruccas there are many different treatments our chiropodist can try. Often something as simple as reducing the amount of hard skin that has developed on the verucca can make it more comfortable.

Chiropody, or Podiatry as it is now more commonly known, is an important health care treatment for those suffering from foot problems. Our highly trained Podiatrists and Chiropodists here at Connect Physical Health are all state registered practitioners and specially trained to diagnose and treat problems as with chiropody or podiatry.
