Occupational Physiotherapy combines the skills of Chartered Physiotherapists with additional knowledge from training in Occupational Health and Ergonomics. In this way Occupational Physiotherapists are best placed to understand how musculoskeletal problems can be caused, aggravated by or in any way affecting an individuals ability to work.
This high level of understanding and training allows for the following:
- Accurate diagnosis and prognosis
- Appropriate and effective treatment (if required)
- Comprehensive management /action plan
- Workplace analysis/assessments
- Restrictions/modifications to working duties
- Return to work/rehabilitation programmes
- Preventative advice
